SUMMARY:St. Augustine 450th Commemorative Trail Rides
DESCRIPTION:The 450th anniversary of the founding of St. Augustine and the surrounding area is being celebrated this year. St. Augustine has the distinction of being the oldest continuously inhabited city in the entire United States. To honor the role of the horse in the exploration and settlement of our area in times of both peace and war\, the St. Johns County Horse Council is sponsoring five trail rides on on five Saturdays. These rides\, know as the 450th Commemorative Rides\, will cover nearly the entire county. \nParticipants are welcome to do as many of the rides as they would like\, so round up the old pony and spend a few Saturdays with friendly folks riding in places you rarely get to ride. We’ll be going through timber tracts and private properties where wildlife is abundant. You’ll get to see the “real” Florida that most never get to experience — from the farms where your food is grown to the timber tracts that support our clean air and water\, provide wildlife habitat and are a valuable renewable resource. \n\nFee for each ride – $10.00\nFooting on all rides is suitable for barefoot horses.\nFood will be available at all venues as well as water for the horses.\nPort-o-lets will also be available.\nPrimitive camping will be available for two for the rides as noted but no dogs are allowed.\nAll horses must have proof of negative coggins.\nAll riders under age 17 must wear helmets as per Florida law.\nRide 1 – February 21\n4150 CR 298\n11 miles spanning CR 208 to CR 214Ride 2 – March 7\nNocatee near Davis Park\nTrail is 9 miles \nRide 3 – March 21\n4300 CR 208\n6 or 10 miles spanning SR 16 and CR 208\nCamping available \nRide 4 – April 4\nPrincess Place off Old Kings Rd\nCovers Princess Place and Pellicer Creek\nChoose 5\, 7\, or 8 mile ride\nCamping available \nRide 5 – May 2\nScoville Rd. off CR 305\nSpans CR 214 to SR 207\nTrail is 11 miles \nFor more information\, visit our group on Facebook\nhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/SJCHorseCouncil/\nor contact tigrrider@gmail.com or 904-692-3795 \n\n450th-registration\n450th Release of Liability\n450th Trail Ride Directions
